Contemporary Latin American artist, Isidoro Ocampo (1910-1983), is most known for his detailed figurative prints, that exaggerate scenes of Mexico, encapsulating an almost surreal effect. The artist was born in Veracruz and attended classes at San Carlos Academy and the Workshop of Book Arts as a child. At 20 years old he was appointed as assistant in the Engraving Workshop of the Teachers of Woodcuts and Etchings, the medium in which he is most recognized. Ocampo was an educator at the Ministry of Public Education and at the Begginers' Night Art Schools in Mexico City, and participated in founding the TGP, a workshop of popular graphic artists, and held exhibitions throughout Mexico and the US.
