Lot Details

"Two Vases" 2007 is an oil on canvas still life by well known Contemporary Latin American artist, Ignacio Iturria. Here the artist paints two vases side by side, accompanied by two miniature swimming figurines. Here Iturria experiments with multiple layers and gestures to create a frenetic effect in the midst of muted dark tones of a still life composition. In this way, the artists directly addresses various issues of contemporary painting, exploring aspects of nature, and details viewed through the naked human eye. He has explained that, "painting is not about the mere representation of an object, it's about color and light. The right proportions between those two elements form a shape inside the space. The subject cannot bee seen as it is but as an abstract element." This work measures 19.69 x 23.62 inches (50 x 60 cm) and is unframed in excellent condition.
