Lot Details

"SpotRobotCat" is a celebratory hand painted, free-standing sculpture in the round table by acclaimed Japanese Pop artist Hiro Ando, and is an homage to Contemporary "Y.B.A." British artist Damien Hirst's, famous 'Spot' paintings, as the title underscores. Height: 23.70 inches (60 cm), from an edition of just 8, and in excellent condition. Accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Studio of the Artist (see example in images).
The sculptures and paintings of Hiro Ando are the meeting point between the ancient Japanese Meiji era and the Manga generation; Shogun in the Land of Pokemon. Ando's sculptures conflate traditional Japanese figures such as the Samurai and Sumo Wrestler with images of cats and pandas, rendered in vivid Neo-Pop colors and modern materials, creating a fresh and light hearted dialogue between past and present cultures, East and West. Ships from France.
