Lot Details

"SpinRobotCat". Painted, cast bronze. Edition 1/1. Height: 23.70 inches (60 cm). Mint condition. This stand-alone sculpture in the round is one of the most rare and exciting works created by famous Neo-Pop Japanese artist Hiro Ando, not only because it is a unique edition and cast from bronze, but also because it is the only unique editioned Ando sculpture to reference British artist Damien Hirst's famous 'Spin' paintings, with the surface of the futuristic cat nearly entirely covered in a psychedelic spin of brilliant colors.
Ando created a small number of editioned sculptures that reference the famous 'Spot' paintings of Hirst, making this unique 'SpinRobotCat' even more desirable. Ando is famous for his iconic series of 'Superflat' sculptures of cats and pandas that combine Traditional and Contemporary associations of these animals in Japanese culture, that are rendered in shiny vivid colors and materials. Accompanied by a formal Certificate of Authenticity as issued by the Studio of the Artist (see example in images). Ships from France.
