Lot Details

"Pandasan (Blumetal)" (2011) is a dynamic Neo-Pop blue chromed sculpture in the rounf by famous Japanese Neo-pop artist, Hiro Ando (Japan, b. 1973) that clearly references the Blue and Red chrome "Balloon Dog" sculptures by Jeff Koons. The art of Hiro Ando can be considered the meeting between the Meiji era and the Manga generation: Shogun in the land of Pokemon. This work is edition 1 of just 8, measures 21.62 inches (55 cm) in height and is in perfect condition. Ando's sculptures conflate traditional Japanese figures like "Hello Kitty", the Panda, The Samurai and the Sumo Wrestler with very modern, shiny and seductive materials and bright colors, such as chrome, crystals and resin, creating a dialogue between the traditional past and present cultures, between East and West.
