Born in New York City in 1921, Harvey Johnson grew up in a family of artists, his father a sculptor and mother a landscape painter. The artist studied at the Art Student's League in New York as an illustrator. Johnson has been a member of the Cowboy Artists of America, and has won multiple awards, and has been the featured artist of the Rockies and Southwest Art. The artist currently lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
