Gyorgy Kepes (1906 - 2001) was a Hungarian-born American painter, filmmaker and photographer. He created abstract images, including his photograms, and used a variety of techniques. He experimented with prints he called “photo-drawings,” where he applied paint to a glass plate, and then used that plate as a negative. He also created interesting compositions of everyday scenes, which he often captured from a variety of unconventional camera positions and viewpoints.
