"Mike (Black)" portrays legendary boxer Mike Tyson's head in a picture plane crowded with Warhol-esque logos and advertisements. This work by contemporary artist Greg Gossel shows the influence of artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Greg Gossel (b. 1982) is a contemporary American artist best known for his mixed-media works that explore the interplay of word and image. While at school, Gossel studied graphic design, a background whose influence is visible in the multivalent work he creates. Gossel's work has been exhibited throughout the US and abroad, including San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Copenhagen, and London. His commercial clients include Burton Snowboards, Stussy, and Interscope Records, and his work has been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine, Artslant, Artful Living, and ROJO Magazine. Greg currently resides in Minneapolis, MN.
