A vintage gelatin silver print on the original mount. Image size is 8.25 x 8 inches (21 x 20.3 cm). Mat size is 17.5 x 14 inches (44.5 x 35.6 cm).

Grancel Fitz's oeuvre from the 1920's and 1930's was highly prized at the time it was made, but it has since been grossly undervalued by collectors. A one-man exhibition at MoMA in 1986 contextualized him within the Modernist tradition. Writing on the show in the New York Times, critic Andy Grundberg made note of what he felt was an unintended, but "inherent Surrealism" in many of Fitz's works.
