"Ice Buddha No. 1" (2006) is a visually meditative color photograph by famous emerging Tibetan artist Gade (Lhasa, b. 1971).This photograph is from an edition of 12, measures 31.50 x 19.70 inches (80 x 50 cm) is unframed in excellent condition. Gade made this ice sculpture of Buddha from water he gathered from the Kyi Chu River in Lhasa, then placed it back in the same river from where he collected the water. This photograph documents a stunning performance pice by Gade. in which the ice sculpture slowly melts in the Tibetan sun until it completely disappears. Gade states that this poignant performance is like the cycle of life - the water comes from and returns to the same source.
