An edition of this work is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Always at the forefront of the Contemporary art world, internationally renowned Minimalist artist Frank Stella's (b. 1936) oeuvre reveals constant growth and change. Fascinated with movement and free flowing forms, Stella creates pieces that are unrestricted and unconfined and that exude energy. Throughout his career, Stella participated in several exhibitions that were paramount in defining the art of the sixties, including the "The Shaped Canvas" at the Guggenheim (1964–65) and "Systemic Painting" (1966). Stella's work has earned him numerous awards and honors, including a Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the Boston University, Boston, MA (2011), a Gold Medal from the National Arts Club, New York, NY (2001), and many artist residencies. Recent solo shows of his work have been held at the Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C. (2011), Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY (2007) and the National Museum of Fine Arts, Santiago, Chile (2005), among others.
