Evoking a sense of mythic mystery, "Untitled (Letter)" (1969) includes the suspended figures and washed-out medium, stylistic of graphic Contemporary artist Francisco Toledo (Mexican, b.1940). Mixing original imagery from pre-Columbian cultures with nature, and text, this work exemplifies what Baudelaire called “the fantastic real”. This watercolor and ink on rice paper is in excellent condition, measuring 10 x 7 inches (25.4 x 17.8 cm) and is framed to approximate dimensions listed above.
