"Chinese Portrait Series Nos. 6" (2008) is a stunning silkscreen print in colors by famed Chinese Contemporary artist Feng Zengjie (China, b.1968), from an edition of 68, measures 31.50 x 31.50 inches and is in excellent condition. This is the first edition of the print to ever come to international auction and is a beautiful example of the women painted by Feng, each inspired by the idealized yet unattainable models seen in print ads and fashion magazines. Feng's women are also idealized, yet they also possess an otherworldly, fantasy-based look, underscored by their wandering eyes and his neon palette of electric pinks, greens and reds. Feng's portraits are intentionally separated from reality, underscoring our collective obsession with superficial beauty and global consumerism that is based on a quest for physical perfection that is impossible to ever attain.
