Lot Details

Italian Painter, sculptor and printmaker Felice Casorati (1883-1963) studied law at the University of Padua, not until 1907 was his ambition to be a painter confirmed, with the inclusion of one of his works at the Venice Biennale.

Influenced by the Symbolist movement, his work drew inspiration from the Renaissance masters and has been connected with the Metaphysical school of painting for it's dreamlike quality.

In 1923 Casorati opened his studio to emerging Italian artists and the young art students of Turin. This work was realised for an exhibition of contemporary Italian artists of the 1950´s.
