Lot Details

Artwork measures 108 x 57 inches (274.3 x 144.8 cm).

Executed in 2004, this monumental painting by Ena Swansea is a dramatic evocation of the moment before a disaster. In Swansea's towering vertical tableau, an automobile is poised at the edge of a drawbridge, about to fall into the water below. A forest of metal beams looms in the night sky, while the river waters cast off a muted glitter.
