Lithograph by Elizabeth Catlett printed in black ink on Arches 88 at J K Fine Art Editions Co. NY/NJ in 2003. Print is in mint condition, never been framed or mounted. full white margins with deckled edges.

There are several versions of "Dancing" the artist printed over the years including one featuring color on the dancers clothing.

Elizabeth Catlett (b. 1915 - 2012) was an African-American sculptor and printmaker best known for her expressionistic and politically charged prints of the 1960s and 1970s. The prints and sculptures primarily explore African-American and Mexican working-class women, celebrating their endurance, strength and passion. She was the first person to earn an MFA in sculpture from the University of Iowa in 1940. Other achievements included becoming the first female professor of sculpture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Catlett has had more than 50 solo shows, including retrospectives in 1993 and 1999. She received numerous awards including the Women's Caucus For Art, was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Contemporary Sculpture, has had an Elizabeth Catlett Week proclaimed in Berkeley, California, and an Elizabeth Catlett Day established in Cleveland, Ohio.
