Elinor Carucci was born in Israel in 1971, and received her BFA from Bezalel Academy in 1995. She now resides and works as a photographer in New York City. Carucci was named one of the “Thirty under 30 Young Photographers to Watch” by Photo District News in 2000. As a contemporary photographer, Carucci explores traditional ideas such as family and pain through a new and unique visual language. Carucci's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, nationally and internationally, since her debut in New York in 1997. She has had solo shows at several international venues including: the Hafia Museum of Contemporary Art, Israel; The Photographers’ Gallery, London and Fotographie Forum, Frankfurt. Her photographs are included in public collections such as The Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum of Arts, International Center of Photography, The Jewish Museum and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Carucci has received several awards including the ICP Infinity Award (2001), and a Guggenheim Fellowship (2002).
