Lot Details

Fully documented in Gail Levin's catalogue raisonné, 'A Scout' was painted when the artist was only 17. The work dates from 1899, the year that Hopper enrolled in the New York Institute of Art and Design. Hopper continued there for six years and found himself under the tutelage of luminaries William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri, who influenced his painting style immeasurably.

A Scout has impeccable provenance and is an investment grade, unique work.
