Drahomir Josef Ruzicka, In Santa Margharita Harbor, c. 1928. Vintage bromoil print, 14 x 11 inches (35.6 x 27.9 cm). Signed and inscribed.

Drahomir Josef Ruzick (1870 - 1960) was a Czech-American photographer. Ruzicka's family moved to America when he was only a boy, but he kept strong ties to his homeland throughout his adult life. Though he was a pediatrician by profession, he maintained a strong interest in photography and had a significant impact on a number of other Czech photographers.

Photography specialist and curator of the Photography Collection at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague Jan Mlcoch has said of Ruzicka, "He was a pioneer and he brought America as a theme to Czechoslovakia, a theme picked up by many later generations of Czech photographers - from Alexandr Hackensmied to Jan Lukas to Eva Fuka and this trend, this fascination with the American city I think continues to this day. It began with Ruzicka."
