Lot Details

Highly expressionistic and extremely dynamic, Deng Jianjin’s (China, B. 1961) unmistakeably lush, dream-like figurative paintings and color silk-screen prints tend to blur the lines between civility and rebellion, private versus public, with a focus on sexually charged situations. “Memories of Pleasure Like Scattered Water No. 14” (2009) is a stunning silkscreen in colors that depicts the very best of Deng's works and is a rare and important print by the artist. Deng's works strive to be controversial, pushing the limits of taboo and morality. This print measures 31.49 x 23.62 (60 x 80 cm) inches unframed, and is in excellent condition.

Deng Jianjin was born in Guangdong Province, China, and graduated from Jingdezhen Ceramic College, Jiangxi Province. He has held many solo exhibitions throughout China and has taken part in the 7th and 8th National Art Expo in China. In 1992 the artist participated in the 2nd China Contemporary Art Achive Expo and won the Academy award in “The National Oil Painting Biennale” and “The National 3rd Language Painting Expo” along with several more awards. His works are included in the Singapore Art Museum, the Duolun Modern Art Museum, and the Guangzhou Art Museum, and have been shown in multiple exhibitions throughout Asia. Deng Jianjin currently the vice-headmaster of the Attached High School of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China.
