Debora Antonello, abstract painter, graphics artist and decor designer was born near Padua, Italy in 1967. A qualified infant special needs teacher, in 1992, she turned to art full time. Initially trained by her father, the artist Bruno Antonello, she later studied abstract painting at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice. In 2001, she joined Atelier Aperto to explore printing techniques, notably with Nicola Sene.

In 2007, she took part in the first international exhibition of artists’ books in Barcelona. Her artist’s book, Lumen, poesia di un quadro, produced with the poet Luciano Menetto was published by the Centro Internazionale della Grafica in Venice. Since 2006, she has illustrated calendars for the Ecuadorean association, ASA, and since 2010 for Libera, an Italian anti-mafia association. In 2009, she was one of ten Paduan engravers representing Italy at the sixth engravers biennale in Novosibirsk, Russia. In 2010, she executed a 5x12 m painting for the apse wall of Sant’Anna, the parish church of Piove di Sacco, Italy.

In recognition of her work, Debora Antonello won the Atelier Aperto Samuele Luca study grant in 2006. This followed the Arte Pisanello prize for painting, awarded by the Fondazione Toniolo of Verona, with the right to exhbit. In 2007, she won the first prize for painting in the San Giorgio national competition in Pistoia, Italy.

There have been numerous exhibitions of her work in Italy and around the world, in Germany, the USA and Japan.

Debora Antonello teaches experimental techniques in art and has also been invited to hold woodcut and engraving workshops and courses in Italy and other countries, including Japan.
