With his characteristic exploration into sprawling landscapes, David Lowe's 'Once Upon a Time in the West #258' presents a seaside view complete with rolling cloud banks, tranquil water, and a quaint cottage. Obscuring the viewer's perception of the entire scene, Lowe forces the eye to see the landscape as if by looking through a window, being allowed a glimpse of the vista before them.
David Lowe’s landscape countryside’s depict the beautiful vistas of Tuscany in simplified geometric abstract forms. His pieces look beyond the physical beauty of the environment to capture the still present past that has inspired so many others to explore the serenity and composure of the Tuscan countryside. The artist has received numerous awards over the course of his career including a National Endowment for the Arts Award and the New York Artists Fellowship Expressing both a sense of cinematic grandeur as well as the delicacy of Asian watercolors, Lowe’s pieces are enjoyed in both private and public collections and have been exhibited both nationally and internationally.
