Lot Details

Dating from 1979, David Hockney's "Flowers in Vase" is an excellent example of the artist's bold yet spontaneous approach to painting from life. With sparse, energetic strokes, Hockney depicts the scene (one of his central motifs) in vivid color, capturing the essence of the flowers, vase, and the surface on which they sit.

This work is signed on the lower right.

Hockney’s works have been featured in over five hundreds exhibitions worldwide, notably at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2009); the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, England (2009); and the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL (2008). David Hockney is currently based in California and the UK.
