"Angel No. 8" (2006) is a sublime large-scale color photograph by Cui Xiuwen (China B. 1970). whose work is considered by curators and collectors to be ground-breaking feminist art from China. This work measures 59 x 59 inches (150 x 150 cm) unframed, is edition 3 of 8, and in perfect condition. Here, a young girl is depicted close up in a surreal pose, while smaller images of this same girl can be seen in the distance laying upon a paved courtyard and even poised upon the rooftops of traditional Chinese buildings in the distance, as if angels, fulfilling the title. Cui's "Angel" series explores ones own sense of their place in the world, as well as on the universal longing that adults have to return to childhood.
