    About This Lot

Legend is a dynamic, vibrant mixed media display of both highly finished and expressionistic brushstrokes by graffiti pioneer Cope2. This recent canvas demonstrates Cope2’s continued ability to translate the unique graffiti style that he developed and perfected on the walls of the urban environment into formal artistic practice on a canvas. This piece ships un-stretched and is in excellent condition.

Cope2 (b. Fernando Carlo, 1968, New York) is an internationally acclaimed graffiti artist who grew up in the South Bronx, beginning his career as a street artist in the late 1970s. Throwing up his name on various subway lines and writing on permission walls across New York City, he became known for his distinctive lettering and inventive use of color. Over the course of his career, Cope2 has collaborated on projects for Time magazine, Adidas, and Converse, and has contributed to numerous musical endeavors and video games. He has exhibited at Le Grand Palais, Paris; Skalitzers Contemporary Art, Berlin; Weltkulturerbe Völklinger Hütte, Völklinger; Maximilian Gallery, Los Angeles; and Project1 Gallery, San Francisco, among many others.
