Printed on Agva-Gevaett Portriga Rapid 118-#2 paper. Slight, minor ripple in the paper toward top and bottom margins.

Clarence Sinclair Bull (1896-1979) began his career in Hollywood in 1918 as an assistant cameraman at Metro Pictures, shooting stills of actors and actresses during production breaks. When Metro and Goldwyn merged to form MGM in 1924, he became the head of the MGM stills department. During this time he photographed legendary stars such as Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, Hedy Lamarr, Gary Cooper, Elizabeth Taylor, Vivian Leigh, Spencer Tracy, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, and, of course, Greta Garbo. His classic images of movie stars, particularly his collaboration with Greta Garbo, whom he photographed almost exclusively from 1929 until 1941, captured the allure and romance of Hollywood. Bull was influential in beginning the tradition of celebrity portraiture that has endured until today.
