"Fashion Girl (Defoliation)" (2010) is one of the finest and most sublime of the surreal, figurative paintings by exciting, young Contemporary Chinese artist Chiu Chih-Weit (China b. 1980). This work measures 19.70 x 27.55 inches (50 x 70 cm) and is in excellent condition.Chiu's painting style, themes, color palette and compositions intentionally embrace the iconic "Superflat" style created by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and embraced by the younger Japanese artists of Murakami's famous KaiKai Kiki Studio, Tokyo, including Chiho Aoshima and Aya Takano, Chiu's Japanese Contemporaries.

Chiu Chih-Weit received an undergraduate degree from the National Taiwan University of the Arts in 2002 and a graduate degree from the Tainan National University of the Arts in 2005. Chiu has been awarded the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts Award in 2007; the Juming Museum Arts Corridor Award in 2004 and the Cathlife Art Festival First Prize award, amongst many others. The artist has exhibited at galleries and museums internationally throughout Asia and Europe including the Juming Museum of Arts-Taipei, at the 2008 Cologne Art Fair; and at the Ministry of Education, Taipei among many others. The artist's work is held is in the permanent collection of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
