Cheryl Maeder is an American photographer whose works depicting human figures and coastal scenes are strongly influenced by color field painters and the tradition of impressionism, as well as the instant nostalgia available to a post-Polaroid, post-Instagram culture. Maeder studied photography at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Zurich, Switzerland and worked as a commercial photographer in Europe for eight years before returning to the US and beginning her Dreamscapes series, which was photographed along the Florida coast. Her work has been exhibited at Galerie Mark Hachem, Paris, France; Stephen Wirtz Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Seth Jason Beitler Gallery, Miami, FL; the Spanish Embassy, Washington, DC; and San Francisco City Hall, among others. She lives and works in West Palm Beach, FL.
