"Blooming" (2009) is a dynamic and visually meditative abstract oil and acrylic on canvas painting by internationally acclaimed Chinese Contemporary artist Chen Yu (China, b. 1965). This painting belongs to the artists larger "Red" series of large scale paintings, measuring 59.05 x 57.08 inches (150 x 145 cm) and is in excellent condition. "Blooming" conflates traditional Chinese ink brush painting with Action Painting and Abstraction. Chen pours and drips paint directly onto the canvas, shifting and moving the work, allowing the paint to create its own narrative. The result is a stunning painting filled with organic shapes, patterns and a celebratory and harmonious interactions of color.

Chen Yu, was born in 1965 in Dongming Shandong Province, China. The artist graduated from Heze Normal School with a major in Fine Art, and also studied fresco painting at China Central College of Fine Art. Chen has participated in decades of gallery and museum exhibitions throughout Asia and Europe, including Shangbao Museum, China; the 798 Dafeng Gallery, China; 798 Red T space, China, as well as in Galleries in France, Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands and the U.S.
