Lot Details

In this print, Bruce Nauman displays his interest in language and wordplay by using two words which are anagrams of each other to make the phrase "CANED DANCE." Nauman's work spans many media and often incorporates movement and neon colors, which can be seen in this work with the disorienting, almost holographic layering of color.

This work was published in the portfolio "Cunningham I," which also contained works by Andy Warhol, John Cage, Jasper Johns, Robert Morris, Robert Rauschneberg, and Frank Stella. The proceeds went to the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York.
