Bernard Buffet was a French Expressionist painter and member of the Anti-Abstract Art Group, "L 'homme Témoin". In 1952, he was awarded first prize by the magazine Conaissance des arts, which named the 10 best post-war artists. The first retrospective of Buffet's work was held at the Galerie Carpentier when the artist was only 30. Sadly, the artist took his own life in 1999 due to a long battle with Parkinson's disease robbed him of his ability to paint.
