Lot Details

The present lot is an extremely rare printer's archival full set of 6 prints published in conjunction with Banksy's first large-scale show in America: the "Barely Legal" exhibition, which took place in downtown Los Angeles in 2006. This unique archival set, edition 1/1, was produced specifically for the show and features six of the most iconic Banksy images: "Applause," "Destroy Capitalism," "Grannies," "Morons," "Sale Ends Today," and "Trolleys."

The archival set is unique and comes with an original sales receipt from printer of record Modern Multiples Fine Art Editions, as well as a bound copy of the production documents. The production notes offer a unique glimpse into the production of this legendary print set and are probably the only record of any working insight into the mind of the elusive and anonymous Banksy. The bound production record was compiled by Modern Multiples and includes all the correspondence between the production studio and members of Banksy's crew. The documents include e-mails from the initial correspondence through the end of production, initial bids, invoices for the production of the prints, details on materials and replacement prints, and production memos.

The prints are pristine and printed on Arches paper with deckled edges by master printer Richard Duardo of Modern Multiples. More than just a complete grouping of prints, the set is a unique archival set with unprecedented documentation. Each of the six prints measures 30 x 45 inches (76.2 x 114.3 cm).
