Lot Details

"YES, it's calling" is an important and rapturous acrylic on canvas painting by famed Contemporary Japanese female artist, Aya Takano. Dimensions: 17.79 x 20.90 in/(45.50 x 20.90 cm). Excellent condition. This stunning painting depicts a nude young woman seemingly unaware that she is levitating, mesmerized as she is by the large 'all-seeing' eye that hovers above her in surreal pink environs. Box framed and in excellent condition. Ships world-wide from the U.K.
This is a beautiful example of Takano's iconic painting style, distinguished by multiple layers of ethereal, diluted paint, whimsical coloring, and “Kawaii” (cute) figures in fantastical scenarios derived from Japanese tradition, myth, erotica and her own imagination. This painting was exhibited in the groundbreaking, first solo exhibition of Aya Takano's paintings in the United States. "The Far Reaches of The Universe, My Garden". April 15 — May 21, 2005. Acquired by present owner in 2005 directly from the prestigious Blum & Poe Gallery, Santa Monica.
