Lot Details

This arresting "portrait" of former president Ronald Reagan advertising Van Heusen Century shirts is from Andy Warhol's 1985 "Ads" portfolio. Warhol was captivated by the power of American consumerism, and sought to manipulate the everyday images and icons so present in the American consciousness. In collections such as the "Ads" portfolio, Warhol effectively rendered popular subjects such as commercial advertisements, corporate logos, and celebrity portraits into art forms all their own.

The colors in this vibrant original screenprint have been beautifully preserved.

"Van Heusen (Ronald Reagan)" measures 38" x 38" unframed and is fully referenced in the catalogue raisonne "Andy Warhol Prints" by Frayda Feldman and Jorg Schellmann, No. II.356. This screenprint is in mint condition and has been framed using the quality conservation materials. A certificate of authenticity from the seller will be issued with the purchase of this work.
