Lot Details

This is the incredibly rare "Shoes (Deluxe Edition)" by Andy Warhol (1980). The work is from one of the smallest editions Warhol ever created, with just 10 impressions, which is perhaps why this work has never been to auction. Interestingly, this was also the largest print Warhol had made at this point in his career, which could explain the limited edition size. Stunning in reality, it is challenging to convey this work's beauty in a photo, as the shimmer of the Diamond Dust coating is difficult to capture on camera.

This work ties Warhol’s beloved early commercial illustrations of shoes to his career-making works that employed repetition and photography. These later shoes represent his success and fame, coated in shimmering diamond dust that accentuates the glamor he coveted so dearly.

Please note:
There is a stain on the physical photograph of the print's signature, NOT on the print itself. The work is in very good condition, and the stain is only a defect of the photograph of the print's signature. There are no stains on the signature or anywhere on this print.
