Lot Details

This rare portrait of Miguel Bose is authenticated by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. It is printed on two sheets of purple colored graphic art paper.

Latin musician and actor Miguel Bose was born in Panama in 1956. Bose followed in his mother's footsteps with an acting career, but in 1971 he decided to focus on his music. Throughout the course of his career, Bose recorded 21 albums and appeared in more than 35 films, including two music videos with Andy Warhol.

In 1983 Warhol first learned about the up and coming musician when he was commissioned by Bose’s recording company to produce the album cover art for his record “Made In Spain”. Around this time Warhol was invited to visit Madrid and appeared in Bose’s “Fallen Angel” music video. Though many of Bose’s albums were considered as “pop”, he separated himself from other musicians in the genre by incorporating a variety of musical influences from around the world into his songs. In 1993 Bose stepped into a more political realm with his twelfth album, “Bajo El Signo de Cain”. This album was very well received by his fans and became his first platinum album.

This screenprint is based on a photograph taken by Andy Warhol. This image was later used in 1992 for the CBS/Sony Made in Spain CD cover. There are paintings of this subject.
