After President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, Andy Warhol began his series of "Jackie" paintings and prints in response to the media blitz that followed the event. "Jackie III" is the third and most extensive Warhol made of Jacqueline Kennedy, from news photos of her that he culled from international press coverage of JFK's death. From the ground-breaking portfolio, 11 Pop Artists III, 1966. This very important print is in numerous museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
