Since her 1976 debut in the television series Charlie’s Angels, actress Farrah Fawcett (1947-2009) has played the role of the ideal woman and muse for many people. For Andy, she resonated with youth and glamour. In this particular issue of Interview magazine, Farrah Fawcett is interviewed by Joan Quinn, Interview's L.A. editor at the time and her good friend Steve Rubell, the former owner of Studio 54.

Interview magazine was founded by artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987) and Gerard Malanga in 1969. Dedicated to the cult of celebrity which fascinated Warhol, it featured cutting-edge graphics and interviews of celebrities. These interviews were usually compiled in an informal, tongue-in-cheek manner. Similar to the eccentric fashion of Warhol's books such as The Philosophy of Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again. Toward the end of his life, as Warhol withdrew from everyday oversight of his magazine, he continued to act as ambassador for the magazine, distributing issues in the street to passersby and creating ad hoc book-signing events on the streets of Manhattan.
