Lot Details

This is a beautiful impression of "Grevy's Zebra" from Warhol's Endangered Species series. The zebra is one of the only subjects in the series depicted in profile. This composition choice allows for a full view of the zebra's boldly colorful stripes, the outlines of which make the work as a whole incredibly dynamic. Warhol once described the works in his Endangered Species series as “animals in makeup,” and, like his celebrity portraits, the artist’s surreal palette amplifies the exotic nature of his wildlife subjects.

The frame measures 40 x 40 inches (101.6 x 101.6 cm). This work has not been examined out of the frame.
