Lot Details

The subject Susan, is the wife of Larry Rosen, who was the fine screenprinter of this work. Since the work required 12 runs through the press (and 12 different plates that the artist drew), Katz had plenty of time to socialize with the printer and his pretty wife! A wonderful, early, delicate portrait.

Another example of "Susan" was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery, Washington and is in the collection of Smithsonian Gallery of American Art.
