This is a stunning and rare work from famed Modern Indian artist Akbar Padamsee's "Nude Study" series of large-scale black and white nudes that explore the beauty of the female figure while abstracting it and working with strong sources of light and shadows to create sensual yet harmonious images, such as "Nude Study 8".

For contemporary artist Akbar Padamsee (B. 1928), the contemplative and articulative process of creation supersedes any desire to conform to any one artistic style. Ranging from figurative to abstract works, Padamsee is meticulously concerned with the use of color, line, form, space, and time within the depths of his compositions. Experimenting with a wide array of mediums including painting, film, sculpture, and writing, the artist is most renowned for his metascapes and mirror images, which seek to address the duality of existence. Padamsee has exhibited at venues the world over including the Museum of Contemporary Art (Montreal , Canada), Rubin Art Museum (New York, NY), Museum of Fine Arts (Boston, MA), and Guild Art Gallery (Mumbai, India), among others.
