"Since my initial subscription with Artnet,
I have added the
fine art auction database, doubled my artnet package and have had the joy of selling eight works directly through the site. It has paid for itself, and as a private dealer, I find it indispensable"

TOP AUCTION PRICES IN 2003  By Walter Robinson
The annual sales totals for 2003 at the two major auction houses, Sotheby’s and Christie’s, won’t be released for several months. But a few conclusions can be drawn in the meantime by looking at the year’s top auction prices. Along with classically desirable paintings by Pierre August Renoir, Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh, the top ten includes several rare or unusual works -- a Renaissance painting by Andrea Mantegna, for instance, and atypical landscapes by German Expressionist painters Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele.   morearrow
