"FLAMING YOUTH" WITH CREATIVE TIME

Nov. 23, 2011

Creative Time went with the theme "Flaming Youth" for its fall fundraiser, held at W.I.P. New York, the recently opened basement-level nightclub on Vandam Street in west SoHo, on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. The Creative Time party took its inspiration from the legendary masquerade fests at the Chelsea Arts Club in London, parties that ran until 1959 and were invariably dubbed “the most scandalous event on the social calendar.”

“Flaming Youth” did without the brawls and nudity that made its earlier London counterparts so notorious, but it had no shortage of costumed neo-Bohemian merriment. Guests layered on Venetian masks, angel wings and body paint to pose for Polaroid photographs, while DJ Mia Moretti kept the dance floor busy, and party-goers dined on pizza slices plucked from spits carried through the crowd by teams of servers.

Creative Time reports that 300 people attended the party, helping the organization raise $45,000. Check out more of the action in this slideshow. Photos by Billy Farrell Agency.
