SIMONE WICHA SUCCEEDS NED RIFKIN AT BLANTONApr. 28, 2011
Blanton Museum of Art director Ned Rifkin has announced that he is resigning his position to devote more time to scholarship and teaching at the University of Texas at Austin. Rifkin, who has held the Blanton job for only two years, had previously held the top post at the Hirshhorn Museum, the Menil Collection and the High Museum in Atlanta.
The museum trustees wasted no time filling the post, naming Blanton Museum deputy director Simone Wicha [pictured] as the new director. Wicha came to the Blanton in 2006 as director of development and led the museum’s $83 million building campaign. She had previously held posts at the Noguchi Foundation and the Julliard School in New York.
