French skateboard company Mekanism is launching its latest series of artist-designed decks, this time around with the team of Wade Guyton and Kelley Walker. The brand has a history of collaborating with artists, and has worked in the past with Olafur Eliasson, Anselm Reyle, Josh Smith and Katharina Grosse, among others.

For the latest limited-edition line of 33 skateboards, Guyton\Walker ran the wooden decks through an inkjet printer -- Mekanism customized a slightly flatter, less concave model for the project -- to apply an abstract striped design on the bottom. Then they applied to the top a clear griptape, printed to look like a more scratched-up version of the usual black granular tape.

“Double-sided and transparent? Picabia would have loved it,” wrote Mekanism founder Fred Maechler in an email to the artists that he then posted on the company’s website.

Guyton\Walker decks are available now and one can be yours for €3,200.
