DAVID BOWIE, ARTISTApr. 29, 2011
New York’s Museum of Art and Design has announced a “multi-platform retrospective” -- not an “exhibition, per se,” says the press rep -- of art-school-trained superstar rocker David Bowie, to open May 9, 2011. Presented in conjunction with MAD’s upcoming exhibition “Otherworldly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities,” the show highlights Bowie’s career as a “multi-discipline” performer, and comprises six interactive kiosks installed on the sixth floor of the museum, featuring Bowie’s music videos, interviews and concert footage, as well as a film program in the museum’s theater. Screenings begin June 3 and conclude with a projection of a new print of The Man Who Fell to Earth at Film Forum, June 24-July 7, 2011.
