Ninety galleries from 20 countries are headed back to one of the hottest new art scenes in the world for the sixth-annual Contemporary Istanbul fair, Nov. 24-27, 2011, at the Istanbul Congress Center and the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center.

New for its sixth edition, the fair is bringing in speakers and galleries from the Gulf area as part of its New Horizons section. Moshen Gallery is coming in from Tehran, The Empty Quarter from Abu Dhabi, FA Gallery from Kuwait and XVA from Dubai. Other exhibitors include Galerie Mark Hachem (Paris), Priska C. Juschka Fine Art (New York), Villa Del Arte (Barcelona), The Flat-Massimo Carasi (Milan) and a host of local galleries, such as Chalabi Art Gallery, CDA Projects, Galeri Nev and others.

On view to an expected 60,000 attendees are around 3,000 art works by 526 artists. Last year, the value of the works in the fair was estimated at a collective $27.3 million, most of which can be attributed to Turkish artists.

“We hope that Contemporary Istanbul provides its visitors the opportunity to catch up on the latest trends in Contemporary Turkish Art and the global art scene, while ensuring to remain the medians through which the international art communities can interact,” said fair chairman Ali Gürelli in a statement.
