If any artist is qualified to partner with a cosmetics company, naturally it’s Cindy Sherman. The photographer and master of disguise has collaborated with MAC -- the brand behind most of the faces at Fashion Week -- to promote a candy-colored collection of lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushes and false lashes, available Sept. 29, 2011.

For the ad campaign, Sherman dressed up as the three frightful characters that were said to have been inspired by the collection. There’s a sad clown, a pinched-lip plastic surgery victim and a eurotrash interpretation of the “Hitchcock blonde.” Apart from a few neon powders, however, most of the products look surprisingly wearable.

Apparently it’s a partnership MAC has “longed forever” to realize. “Cindy Sherman embodies the Power of Transformation,” reads the company’s press release. “We're living in a time when people of all persuasions have become bolder than ever about the ways they choose to express themselves: with a colourful palette of possibilities, You are the Artist, You are your own Subject.”
