THE SCREAM: SOTHEBY’S IMP & MOD DOES $330.6 MILLION
May 3, 2012Sotheby’s New York evening sale of Impressionist and modern art on May 2, 2012, totaled $330,568,500 (with premium), with 61 of 76 lots selling, or just over 80 percent. The total is the highest ever for an Impressionist and modern evening sale, besting the $286.2 million record set way back in 1990, though it falls short of the contemporary art auction high of
$384.6 million, set in May 2007.
