Christie’s New York tested the capacity of the art market with a seemingly endless sale -- 85 lots, when 60 is already on the large size -- of Impressionist and modern artworks on the evening of Nov. 3, 2010. The results were just fine: two record prices, a robust $231.4 million total, and 67 of the 84 lots selling for a sell-through rate of 80 percent.
